I’m a lot of things. I’m an actor. An improviser. A comedian. A writer. A producer. A teacher. A student. A father. A husband. An American. And a damn good cook. I believe in life-long learning. I am always trying to find ways to better myself. I’ve had a pretty strange journey, and I have a feeling that I’m only in the 2nd act.

TP - Toddler Trent

I was born in Saginaw, Michigan (USA) in 1984, and I’ve always been a performer. From the age of 4, I have been acting in plays, sketches, skits, pageants, commercials, and anywhere else there is an audience. In high school I sang in choir, acted in plays, and even took summer theatre courses for fun.

After graduating from North Muskegon High School, I attended  Kalamazoo College, where I earned a BA in Theatre in 2006. While in college, I found and fell in love with Improv. So after studying how to memorize lines for 4 years, I ditched the script and moved to Chicago, where I studied and performed improv comedy at The Second City Conservatory, The iO Theatre and ComedySportz, as well with various independent groups.

In 2010 I moved to Finland to get married and start a family. With no real plans, and even less of an intention on continuing comedy, I enrolled in school at Tampere University of Applied Sciences to study International Media Production. During that time, I began teaching improv and producing and performing comedy in English around Tampere. A few years (and two children) later, I have been fortunate enough to turn my passions into a profession, acting as a Freelance Actor and Writer, as well as running my own business The improvAcademy, where I train new generations of improvisers and also use Improv as a consulting and training tool.

In the summer of 2015 I finished my 2nd BA and decided to pursue an MA in Screenwriting.  I keep busy these days studying, writing, freelancing, being a dad, and traveling throughout Europe to perform and teach improv. I’ve been very fortunate to teach at festivals and events all throughout Finland and Europe, including Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Germany,  The Netherlands, Romania, Spain, and more.

I can’t wait to keep growing, learning, teaching, sharing, writing, and living.
